With proofreading, a second linguist checks the initial translation for accuracy and consistency and ensures that nothing has been omitted.

Proofreading includes:

  • accuracy:  checking the translation against the source text
  • consistency:  ensuring that the terminology is standard throughout the text
  • style considerations:  improving the register, tone and syntax as needed
  • no omissions:  making sure that none of the source text is missing in the translation; the target text should match the source text
